  • The Cornish Snapper is a newspaper photographer who, through astute observation, has a rare and extraordinary talent when it comes to solving crimes.

With the help of the crime reporter of a large regional daily paper, Erskine Lammoran's job is to photograph the big news stories in South West England. In doing so he comes across all manner of crimes which he is able solve with the help of visual imagery taken from his photographs.

This book is the first of the Cornish Snapper stories - all of which have been inspired by the author's real life adventures in journalism across the Westcountry. However, the characters are, it must be emphasized, all fictional.

The remains of a well known wood-carver are found in a spinning barrel which has been placed in a river. Not much is left of the poor man, but the Cornish Snapper soon sees that there's a lot more than meets to the eye to his demise.

The tale takes us to the beautiful Cornish port of Fowey and up the river which gives the place its name. We meet dodgy businessmen, born again Christians and hear about a long distance trail which leads to the unravelling of this colourful tale.
